Herbalist & Postpartum Doula: Meet Niki
Founder, Sacred Forest Herbals
Hello, I am Niki. I am the heart behind Sacred Forest Herbals, a homeschooling mother of six, traditional herbalist, and nature lover deeply rooted in the rhythms of the Earth. As a dedicated postpartum doula, I bridge the gap between ancient plant wisdom and modern natural living.
My Journey Into Plant Medicine
My journey with plant medicine began a decade ago. As I delved into the wisdom of herbalism and natural living, I felt a profound calling to live symbiotically with the natural world. The deeper I connected to the earth and the plants around me, the more inspired I became to create small-batch herbal offerings that honor this sacred relationship.
Supporting Women Through Birth and Postpartum
While pregnant with my second child, I began crafting my own herbal preparations to support my home birth and lotus birth experience. I created everything I felt called to use during pregnancy, labor, postpartum healing, and newborn care. What began as a personal passion soon became a way of life.
Since then, I have welcomed four more children through natural, unassisted home births and lotus births, deepening my expertise in supporting women through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and motherhood in gentle, natural ways.
Small-Batch Crafted Herbal Offerings
At Sacred Forest Herbals, I create organic herbal teas, infused salves, balms, lip balms, bath and foot soaks, and natural home decor made with intention and reverence. Alongside my herbal creations, I craft eucalyptus wall hangings on foraged driftwood and raffia sunburst wall hangings made with sustainably sourced raffia, each inspired by the beauty of nature.
Some of my most cherished offerings are the very products that inspired Sacred Forest Herbals to come to life. While these creations have evolved, the heart behind them—rooted in love, intention, and supporting women—remains unchanged. Offerings such as my Postpartum Sitz Bath Herbs, Sacred Lotus Birth Herbs, Blooming Mama Herbal Tea, and Abundant Milk Herbal Tea continue to hold a deeply special place in my journey.
Homegrown and Ethically Foraged
Many of the herbs used in my offerings are grown in my own gardens or ethically foraged from family lands. We grow and forage many of our herbs ourselves, and when we can’t, we source organic and sustainably harvested botanicals from trusted partners. Everything is organic and sourced as locally and sustainably as possible, always keeping nature and the wellbeing of the earth in mind.
Homeschooling and Living the Lifestyle
One of the greatest blessings of this journey has been sharing it with my children. Because we homeschool, they are deeply involved in this lifestyle, working alongside me every day: helping in the gardens, planting seeds, learning the plants, hiking, and foraging together as a family. I see every moment as an opportunity to nurture a love and respect for the natural world. It is truly an honor to spend my days with them and share this way of life together.
Continuing Education and Certification
I am currently completing my Postpartum Doula certification while continuing my herbal studies through a year-long traditional folk herbalism apprenticeship focused on plant medicine, holistic healing, ancestral herbal practices, and deepening relationships with the plants themselves. I believe herbalism is a lifelong journey of learning, listening, and growing alongside nature.
Herbalism, for me, is more than creating products; it’s about honoring the sacred connection between us, nature, birth, healing, and home. Every blend and preparation is created with gratitude, appreciation, intention, and deep respect for the plants and the wisdom they carry.
I am honored to walk alongside all of you who seek a more natural, sustainable, intentional way of living.
